Joel Naukkarinen – Heart2Save sponsors rower who has his sights set on the 2020 Olympics

Helena Jäntti, CEO for Heart2Save, has for several years educated doctors-to-be in the secrets of emergency medicine at The University of Eastern Finland. In the winter of 2017-18 Helena noticed a young man, who had an exceptionally good attitude towards the training connected to the studies. That student was Joel Naukkarinen, and this was the beginning. Helena got to know Joel’s way of documenting every single sports activity he did, and offered him a chance to try out the prototypes for the devices Heart2Save had developed. This lead Heart2Save to becoming Joel’s sponsor in February 2018.

Naukkarinen, who in addition to engaging in sports is studying medicine in Kuopio, used to focus on boxing, but rowing quickly became his passion already when he was under 18 years old when he won his first competitions. During his career, he has achieved

*   101 medals in Finnish Championships
*   Nine Finnish records
*   Two World records

At the end of 2018 Naukkarinen e.g. broke the world record for the 100 km indoor rowing – the new WR being 6:06:06,1 – meaning an amazing average speed of 1:49,8 / 500 m! During this event, Joel’s ECG was shown to the audience with the help of Heart2Save’s devices.

It is a privilege for Heart2Save to be able to support and follow Naukkarinen in his rising career – the ambitious athlete has a goal of winning at the Olympics in 2020 or 2024.
